Community partnerships are crucial to helping to close the digital divide. In 2021, the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) established Tech Together DC. The Tech Together DC initiative is a cross-sector partnership, consisting of 43 partners across the private and non-profit sectors, academia, and government, who have signed a pledge to help close the digital divide in DC.
Tech Together DC is aimed at closing DC’s digital divide, which hinders District residents from reliable access at home and/or the digital literacy skills to effectively use the internet.

Academia & Education Partners
The mission of Community College Preparatory Academy (CCPrep) is to provide the education and skills development that will empower and prepare under-credited adults for postsecondary education success, viable employment and lifelong learning. We raise funds to support tech access for our adult learners.
General Assembly
We provide pro bono services in coordination with student projects, to help connect folks and teams to our alumni and partners, and to share opportunities within our greater community to learn or get support through learning or access to partners. We want to explore providing discounts or free course options for front-line workers, DC government and citizens.
Rocketship Public Schools
At Rocketship Public Schools, we believe in the infinite possibility of human potential. We believe that every student deserves the right to dream, to discover, and to develop their unique potential. And it is our responsibility and our privilege to unleash the potential inside every Rocketeer we serve. Our non-profit network of public elementary charter schools propels student achievement, develops exceptional educators, and partners with parents who enable high-quality public schools to thrive in their community. Rocketship DC consists of three schools: Rise Academy (Ward 8), Legacy Prep (Ward 7), and Infinity Community Prep (Ward 5).
Trinity Washington University
Trinity is developing academic programs including postsecondary courses and certificates to improve educational opportunities for DC residents who want to become more tech proficient. Trinity provides continuing education courses for teachers to improve tech skills, and we are developing low cost programs for adults to develop skills in topics such as data analytics.
University of the District of Columbia
It is the position of the University of the District of Columbia, the only public land grant institution of higher education in and for the nation's capital, that it is through the promotion of digital fluency, we empower students to learn how to learn and use digital tools to be successful in class, career, and life. Swaliga Foundation
Swaliga Foundation has started an initiative to provide mobile maker spaces in different areas around DC. Swaliga intends to provide free internet access at these locations. Washington, D.C. Wards 7 & 8 were home to the first pilot of Swaliga’s signature #STEAMtheBlock technology based educational initiative. Of the youth who frequent this program, 90% come from a single parent household and 90% are on free or reduced lunches.
Tech Turn Up
Tech Turn Up offers comprehensive and innovative STEAM programming to support 5th- 12-grade students in developing fundamental technology skills. Our approach to learning infuses various types of innovative technology, coding languages, and a strong intersection between technology and the arts.
The Golden Triangle BID
The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District works to enhance the 44-square-block downtown neighborhood stretching from Dupont Circle to Pennsylvania Avenue. The primary focus of the BID is to provide a clean, safe, and vibrant environment within the Golden Triangle and to retain and attract businesses, including the growing tech industry. The BID has also been working with GW University, property owners, and city stakeholders on developing an Innovation District in the neighborhood.

US Ignite is accelerating the smart city movement – and creating value for an entire ecosystem – by guiding communities into the connected future, creating a path for private sector growth, and advancing technology research that’s at the heart of smart city development.
United Planning Organization
United Planning Organization’s (UPO) mission is to Unite People with Opportunities by providing impactful programs to assist District residents in achieving self-sufficiency. UPO provides more than 20 human service programs in the following sectors including housing, early education, adult vocational training, community development, substance use/abuse treatment, and youth academic enrichment, among others.
Wilderness Technology Alliance (WTA)
The WTA provides free and low-cost computers and software, with over 95% going to low-income DC residents. About 50% of these computers are provided for free, supported by donations from generous individuals and foundations wanting to bridge the digital divide. The rest are provided for a low cost recovery fee making laptops affordable for the disadvantaged.

Age Friendly DC
Age-Friendly DC is a collaborative aging initiative that addresses all aspects of livability in DC: Built Environment, Changing Attitudes about Growing Older, and Lifelong Health & Security. Age-Friendly DC's mission is to encourage active and healthy living for all residents.
Department of Aging and Community Living
The Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL) serves District residents 60 and older, adults living with disabilities, and those who care for them. In partnership with more than 20 community-based organizations across the city, we offer more than 40 free or low-cost programs to help all District residents live boldly at any age, stage, or ability.
Department of Housing and Community Development
The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is the cabinet-level housing agency of the District of Columbia Government. The mission of DHCD is to create and preserve opportunities for affordable housing and economic development and to revitalize under-served communities in the District of Columbia.
District of Columbia Housing Authority
The District of Columbia Housing Authority provides quality affordable housing to extremely low- through moderate-income households, fosters sustainable communities, and cultivates opportunities for residents to improve their lives.
District’s Workforce Investment Council
The District’s Workforce Investment Council (WIC) is a private-sector led board responsible for advising the Mayor, Council, and District government on the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of an integrated and effective workforce investment system. Members of the WIC include representatives from the private sector, local business representatives, government officials, organized labor, youth community groups, and organizations with workforce investment experience.
Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs
Connection between District of Columbia Residents and the Executive office of the Mayor. Establishes partnerships with communities, conducts and coordinates events, town halls, forums, and projects in support of carrying forward mayoral initiatives at the community level. Serving as a liaison between the Mayor and community organizations, civic groups, and Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANCs). Manage and advise on the intersectional needs of community needs through the oversight of 13 community affairs offices.
